FediHost Beta Program Terms

v1.0.0 (Updated: 2025-04-01)

1. Participation & Incentives

Participants in this beta program will gain early access to pre-release features and services. In exchange for their participation and feedback, they will receive reduced price or free services from FediHost. This allows users to experience new functionalities before they are publicly available and provide feedback. By joining the beta program you help both FediHost and the services that we host to increase the quality and stability of our software.

2. Pre-Release Features & Potential Instability

The beta program includes features that are still under development and may be unstable. Participants should anticipate potential bugs, errors, and service disruptions. These pre-release features are provided "as is" and without warranty.

3. Release Candidates & Service Updates

Beta participants will automatically be placed on instances that receive release candidates of services like PeerTube, Mastodon, and GoToSocial. This means they will experience the newest versions of these services before they are fully released. These release candidates may also contain instability and require frequent updates or restarts.

4. Data Collection & Privacy

To help improve the services and fix bugs, logs and data on errors will be collected from beta program participants. This data may include personally identifiable information. By participating in the beta program, users agree to have this data collected and shared with the developers of this project and the developers of PeerTube, Mastodon, and GoToSocial. This data will be used solely for the purpose of identifying and resolving issues within the services.

5. Data Backup & Potential Data Loss

User data is backed up regularly, so complete data loss is unlikely but not impossible. However, loss of data such as new posts made after an unstable release candidate comes out is likely. Participants should be aware of this potential risk when joining the beta program.

6. Beta Program Communications

As a beta program user, you agree to receiving communications about the beta program. This includes announcements of new features and changes in the terms for the beta program.

7. Leaving the Beta Program & Payment Plan

Participants can leave the beta program at any time. If a user chooses to leave, they will be moved to a stable version of the software at the next convenient moment for FediHost. Leaving the program would necessitate shifting over to a payment plan for the services.

8. Support & Communication

Participants will be given a direct Signal address and priority support to report issues directly to the FediHost team while in the beta program. This ensures timely communication and assistance for beta testers.

9. Joining the Beta Program

To join the beta program, email support@fedihost.co from the email account used to sign up to FediHost and request beta program access.
